Slow and Steady, Toby
A little turtle named Toby learns that by taking small steps and never giving up, he can reach the wonderful blue pond.
Once upon a time, in a meadow filled with soft green grass, lived a small turtle named Toby. Toby had a very important goal. He wanted to reach the big, blue pond at the bottom of the hill. 'I can do it,' Toby whispered to himself. He moved his little legs—crawl, crawl, crawl. But then, thump! Toby tumbled onto a soft patch of moss. He was stuck on his back for just a moment.

He wiggled his legs and soon he was right-side up again. 'That is okay,' Toby said with a smile. 'I will try again. ' He took another step, and then another. Slip! He slid a little way back down the hill. Toby took a deep breath.

He looked at the sparkling water far away. It looked so cool and inviting. He didn't feel sad; he just felt patient. He knew that even little turtles get where they are going if they keep moving. Step by step, Toby moved forward. The sun was warm on his shell. The birds sang a happy song to cheer him on. Finally, Toby felt the grass turn into soft, damp sand. He was almost there! With one last big push, Toby reached the edge of the water. Splash! The water felt wonderful. Toby swam in circles, happy that he never gave up. He learned that being slow and steady is a very good way to be.
