Sammy the squirrel discovers that gathering a few nuts every day is the best way to prepare for the cold winter.

In a forest filled with tall, green trees, there lived a little squirrel named Sammy. Sammy was very good at napping and even better at playing tag with the butterflies. While the other squirrels were busy picking up crunchy brown acorns, Sammy would stretch his paws and say, "I will work later. Today is for sunshine! " His friend, a busy squirrel named Pip, would always wave.

"A little bit every day makes a big pile, Sammy! " Pip said with a smile. One morning, the grass was covered in white, sparkly frost. The sun was not as warm as before. Sammy looked at his empty hollow in the tree.

He only had two small acorns. His tummy gave a tiny rumble. Sammy visited Pip, who was tucked away in a cozy nest full of snacks. Pip shared a golden acorn and said, "Let's work together today. " So, Sammy and Pip spent the afternoon gathering nuts. Sammy found that working a little bit each day was actually quite fun! By the time the first snow fell, Sammy’s home was filled with treats. He was warm, full, and very happy. He learned that doing a little bit of work every day was the smartest way to be a happy squirrel.
